  • Convert ACT! 7.0 (2005)- ACT! 9.0 (2007) to any previous version of ACT including ACT! 5.0 (2000) - ACT! 9.0 (2007) or other file formats including text files, Access Databases or into other Customer Relationship Management Software:

    Our Service helps you to overcome ACT! 7.0 (2005) - ACT! 9.0 (2007) problems i.e. Slow speed, more memory consumption and inability to generate certain Reports as compared to ACT! 5.0 (2000) - ACT! 6.0 (2004). We convert all your Important data including Contacts, Groups, Notes, Histories, Activities, Opportunities from ACT! 7.0 (2005) - ACT! 9.0 (2007) to ACT! 5.0 (2000) - ACT! 9.0 (2007). Moreover, our services are at affordable price. You can either download the Manual and Order Sheet or you can also apply online.

    Conversion Charges:
    Our Conversion Charges are $475 for up to 10,000 records. Additional $100 will be charged for each additional 5,000 records. For eg: 10,001 to 15,000 records = $475 + $100 = $575. Conversion includes Contacts, Groups, Notes, Histories, Activities (Calendar) and Opportunities.

    On Order Confirmation and receipt of full payment, a sample of approximately 50 records will be converted for approval. If approved, then all the Data Conversion will be done. If you are not satisfied with the trial 50 records conversion, we will make the necessary corrections and then redo the process. If you are not happy with the conversion and do not want a redo, then $50 will be deducted as processing fee and rest will be refunded.

GUIDELEINES FOR PROVIDING DATABASE OF ACT!7(2005) FOR CONVERSION TO ACT2000.

Step I: Backup your Database

Follow the steps below to create a backup of your database.

  1. Open your database and click the File menu. Point to Backup, and then click Database. The Back Up Database dialog box appears:

  2. Do not enable the Password protect file option.
  3. Click OK to start the backup. A Back Up progress indicator appears as the database is backup is created:

Step II: Uploading the Zip file or emailing the Zip

The zip file can be uploaded to the server using a FTP program or can be emailed to us.

  • FTP location is swordofmelody.com/act. Drag and drop your Zip file here.
  • Or email the Zip file toinfo@swordofmelody.com.

    Also provide Username and Password of the database, if applicable.

Step III: Sending Order Sheet for the Service

You need to fill this order sheet and fax or email it to us.

Note: We will, in most cases, return your files within 4 days of receipt.

GUIDELINES FOR RECIEVING YOUR FINISHED ACT! DATABASE

Step I: Start ACT! Click File Open

  • Once we are finished with the conversion, we will notify you of the location of your file. You can download it with any browser. For security reasons, it will be known only to you. Just click on the link provided in the email to download the file in to the appropriate folder. The file will come as a WinZip file, for your convenience.
    If you have Windows XP, then you can Extract All. Then you can double click uncompress it into the ACT Database folder. The download process may vary depending on which version you have.

    Then you can start ACT! then click on File Open to open the database

Step II: Location of Finished ACT! Database

  • The location of this folder may vary. Usually this folder is found in "C:\My Documents\ACT\Databases" You can find this folder by clicking the Start button in the lower left of Windows, then Search for "Databases"

    Usually this folder is one of the following:
    C:\ACT...\Databases
    C:\Program Files\ACT...\Databases
    C:\My Documents\ACT...\Databases"

ACTDemo.ADF ACT! Data File
ACTDemo.ALF ACT! Log File
ACTDemo.PAD Pointer to ACT! Database.  This is the primary file you will File Open and the others will open automatically.  You may need to customize this file.
ACTDemo-database files Folder of Templates, Reports, etc. (optional)

  • Note: You will need to temporarily Stop the MS SQL Server Service Manager, in order to place the database. Then Start/Continue it back up. Then restart ACT!

  • Step III: Replace an Existing ACT! File (Refer to the section for the version of ACT you want to use)

    • You could also accomplish this with the ACT! Diagnostics tool by detaching then reattaching the database.
      If you have version ACT!7.0 (2005)or higher, you will have to Detach the Database. Otherwise it will not let you copy or Zip it.

      1. Find the ACT diagnostics tool and launch it.
      2. Select the Databases tab
      3. Select the converted ACT database
      4. Right click
      5. Select Detach Database

  • You may need to customize the PAD file to suit your drive and folder arrangement.

    You can also use the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\SQLMangr.Exe"

    • The location of this folder may vary. Usually this folder is found in

      C:\ACT\Database or
      C:\My Documents\ACT\Database

      The files will have the same "first name" and extensions as follows, using the example of the ACT Demo database:
